Hydrocarbon deposits are very high in country, especially in geological sections of the middle Pliocene, Paleogene-Miocene and Mesozoic layers (approx 14000 y.) The volcanic mud in this region is rich in minerals: sulfur, magnesium, iodine which is highly beneficial for health conditions. People have used the mud for centuries to treat skin disorders, joint pain, respiratory problems. In Azerbaijan it is mostly used to detoxify the body.
